OHCHR's Country Programme promotes international human rights standards to protect women and LGBTI people, especially in conflict-affected areas. It focuses on strengthening their participation in decision-making, addressing discrimination and gender-based violence, and supporting advocacy efforts. The Office builds the capacity of women's and LGBTI organizations and provides technical assistance to state institutions. It also works with indigenous and Afro-descendent women and local authorities to ensure their rights. Additionally, OHCHR contributes technical input to UN treaty bodies and mechanisms under CEDAW, CERD, and Security Council Resolutions 1325, 1820, and 1612. As Human Rights Associate (Gender and LGBTI) you support OHCHR as follows: Document and report cases of gender-based violence against women and LGBTI people; Promote implementation of CEDAW Recommendation 39 and other instruments protecting indigenous and Afro-descendent women's rights; Support technical assistance to women's and LGBTI organizations and state institutions with tools to combat violence and protect human rights defenders; Draft technical documents on human rights standards in Colombia; Help integrate a gender perspective across OHCHR-Colombia's strategies and activities; Etc.
